I. LOVE. Sitter Sessions! They are at the perfect age for the most adorable gummy smiles. Their personalities are just starting to come out enough for a unique feel at every session.
Miss Violet came for her sitter session at 6 months old. How perfect are these photos?
Violet's family decided to bring their own outfits for her to wear for her photos. However, I do offer a client closet full of outfits that photograph well! If you choose to bring your own outfits, it is so important that you talk to me about the outfits so we can make sure that they photograph well.
What makes an outfit photograph well?
- Outfits should never be baggy. In fact, the reason I suggest using the client closet is because most outfits used for everyday wear are too baggy and appear bulky in photos. Try outfits on your baby before considering them for photos. I will usually even suggest using a size too small! (as long as it actually gets up over the diaper!)
- Avoid small patterns. Patterns can throw off the focus on the camera and can even cause some distortion in images. I always suggest plain clothing.
- It matches the sets. Another reason for using the client closet, is that I have props that match these outfits perfectly. Outfits that you bring, may not match items in my prop collection, causing the final images to not appear as cohesive as desired. This is something that we can work around through communication leading up to the session! Sending over images of the outfits that you like are great ways to ensure I can be prepared to work with it!
When should you book your sitter session?
A Sitter session should take place between 6-9 months old. Despite the name, the baby does NOT have to be sitting on their own yet. I have may props that can be used to help support them. Most families like to do 3 milestone sessions. Those would take place at 3, 6 and 9 months in between the newborn and cake smash sessions.
You should make sure to reach out with plenty of time before the milestone date to ensure that you get a session slot in time!
